About the project

Nelson George is an award-winning journalist, music and culture critic, columnist and the author of several non-fiction books. The Nelson George Mixtape gathers together articles written by George Nelson during 1978-1993. The publication presents many reproductions of out of print articles, unpublished interviews with Bob Marley and James Jamerson, and early pieces on Whitney Houston or Prince ant many others. As the author describes it he wanted the book to be as much an object as an collection of writing, a celebration of the tactile, receding world of print with the graphics of old dead magazines, myriad typefaces and the messy transcripts of interviews.
