KOPA-Printed Books Recognised at the Book Art Contest

Each year, the Book Art Contest organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania brings together publishers, designers and printing professionals to celebrate excellence in book design and production. The winners are traditionally announced and awarded on the opening day of the Vilnius book fair at the Litexpo exhibition and congress centre.

We are proud to share that two books produced at KOPA were honoured with diplomas in this year’s competition.

Diploma in the Art Publications Category

In the category of Art Publications (monographs, catalogues, albums), a diploma was awarded to “From Amber to the Stars. Together with M. K. Čiurlionis: Now and Then”, published by the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum and printed by KOPA.

Designed by Inga Navickaitė-Drąsutė and Julija Račiūnaitė-Šimienė, and curated by Kathleen Soriano, Greta Katkevičienė and Vaiva Laukaitienė, the publication presents M. K. Čiurlionis within a broader artistic dialogue — connecting his work with that of his contemporaries and resonating with today’s audiences. The book stands out for its conceptual clarity, visual sophistication and refined production quality.

Diploma in the Photography Publications Category

In the Photography (Artistic and Documentary) category, a diploma was awarded to Mindaugas Kavaliauskas’
“A-SPOT. A Journey into the World of Airplane Spotting / Un voyage dans le monde de l’observation des avions / Kelionė į lėktuvų stebėjimo pasaulį”, published by Šviesos raštas and DIAPHANE éditions, and printed by KOPA.

Designed by Inga Navickaitė-Drąsutė, the book explores the global subculture of airplane spotting through a strong visual narrative and an ambitious international format. Its production demanded precision, consistency and close collaboration between all partners involved.

The Book Art Contest has been held in Lithuania since 1992, aiming to foster a culture of excellence in book design and to recognise the highest standards in publishing and print craftsmanship.

For our printing house, such recognition goes far beyond a formal acknowledgement. It is a meaningful affirmation of trust and partnership. We value the opportunity to help transform creative visions into tangible, enduring books — objects that carry both cultural and artistic weight. Projects like these challenge us to refine our expertise, invest in advanced technologies and continuously raise our quality standards.

We are grateful to contribute to publications that are not only read, but experienced — and that become lasting additions to the cultural landscape.
