About the project

In 2019, the construction of the new City Dox district in Anderlecht begins. Opposite, on the other bank of the canal, the Aurore district, built in the 1960s, becomes a witness to this push of modernity. Photographers Tom Lyon and Pauline Vanden Neste documented this area crossed by the canal and the real estate turmoil.

The canal acts as a natural border in Brussels cutting off Anderlecht off from its south-eastern part. The Biestebroeck basin, 47 hectares of industrial wasteland, is today at the heart of one of the capital's major real estate challenges. On either side of the shore, two realities meet.
